You Must Avoid These Fashion Items That Affect Your Health

Is fashion really good for your health?

What we wouldn’t do to ride on top of the trend curve! From pencil skirts to high heels, we’ve all ticked these off from our fashion must-do lists. But did you know that some of these fashion fetishes can cause harm to you? A lot of back and shoulder pain stem from some fashion accessories that women can do without.

Read on to find out how these 10 fashion items can do more harm than good to you in the long run.

#1 Skinny jeans.

These super-tight pants restrict proper blood circulation, leading to dilated veins. These can even hamper digestion. What’s more, these tight pants can cause pain in our thighs and even numbness. So next time, instead of heading toward the skinny jeans aisle, think twice about the effects that delicious pair might have on your health.

#2 High heels.

Ever wondered why women suffer from more foot problems than men? Well, it’s because of high heels. All high heels cause back pain in the long run. They also hurt the feet with calluses, joint pain, osteoarthritis, and sprained ankles. The very high and pointed ones are the worst kind of heels. You are more prone to accidents with high heels.

If you want to wear high heels, choose a pair of blocked heels if you must. Limit the number of times you wear heels and never go for a walk when you’re wearing one.

#3 Thongs

Thongs can cause vaginal infections, irritation, skin chafing and hemorrhoids. Don’t wear them often and when you do wear one, pick a pair that’s 100% cotton to allow it to breathe. It’s better to go for boy-shorts or high-cut briefs.

#4 Heavy jewellery

Necklaces and earrings that weigh so much so that you have trouble lifting your head are bad for your health. Heavy necklaces can cause pain in the neck. Heavy earrings can damage and de-shape the earlobes which would need cosmetic surgery to fix. Choose light earrings, necklaces and other fashion accessories to enhance your looks without causing harm.

#5 Neck-ties.

Neck-ties that men wear can hamper blood circulation, causing pressure on the eyes leading to headaches and tight back and shoulder muscles. Not a relaxing situation at all. So when you buy shirts next time, choose a comfortable size that is definitely not smaller than your neck.

#6 Ill-fitted bra.

Whenever you go for bra shopping, always try it on in the store. Make sure that it supports your bust properly otherwise you might end up with spinal, shoulder or back pain. If you have a heavy bust, don’t buy bras with thin straps. For lighter women, choose a bra with underwire that doesn’t damage your skin.

#7 Flip-flops.

Flip-flops have very thin soles that do not support the weight of your body and so can cause back pain. Moreover, you’re more likely to scrape your feet which are prone to get infected.

#8 Shapewear.

Avoid shapewear that wraps around your waist so tightly that you have trouble breathing. In addition, such tight shapewear can hamper blood circulation and cause muscle pain. Choose one made of Lycra so that you have enough breathing space as well as a nice contour.

#9 Over-sized handbags.

Women tend to put every little thing they can think of in their handbag and so choose an oversized bag for their daily use. Putting all that weight on one shoulder means pain in the arm and shoulder and potential joint damage. Just sort out the things you absolutely can’t do without and carry only those in your bag.

#10 Pencil skirts.

Pencil skirts are tight and are a potential cause for accidents as the legs don’t get space while walking and you may trip over and fall. In addition, these skirts can cause malformation of the knees and strain in the muscles. So it’s better to go for well-fitted skirts that aren’t too tight for comfort.
